Affinity groups are open to all CSU Bakersfield faculty & staff.

Vision

The vision of the LGBTQ+ PRIDE (Promoting Resources, inclusion, and diversity in Education) network is to provide and foster a more welcoming, respectful, and inclusive campus community for LGBTQ+ faculty and staff. This group will provide a supportive space to discuss relevant issues, plan educational initiatives, host social activities, and promote student support. Together, this group works to broaden the culture of diversity, increase visibility, inclusion and acceptance at CSUB.

History of OUTober

In 1994, Rodney Wilson, a Missouri high school teacher, believed a month should be dedicated to the celebration and teaching of gay and lesbian teachers and community leaders. They selected October because public schools are in session and existing traditions, such as Coming Out Day (October 11), occur this month.

Gay and Lesbian History Month was endorsed by GLAAD, the Human Rights Campaign, the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, the National Education Association and other national organizations. In 2006, Equality Forum assumed responsibility for providing content, promotion and resources for LGBTQIA+ History Month. Please join us at our events (both on campus & over Zoom) as we celebrate OUTober at CSUB.

Netflix's "Rustin" tells the story of Bayard Rustin, an openly gay Black civil rights hero, who was the main architect behind the infamous 1963 March on Washington. Film discussion to follow.

Join the Multicultural Alliance and Gender Equity Center (MAGEC) to create your own candy salads using a variety of candy options on Halloween! Each candy salad comes with an LGBTQ+ biography card.
