Abby Flachmann, MA

BIOGRAPHY

Abby Flachmann attended California State University, Bakersfield (CSUB) where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Communications in 2005 and her Master of Arts in English in 2010.  Abby became a full-time faculty member in 2012 and has since taught both upper- and lower-division composition courses. 

As a faculty member at CSUB, Abby has served as the Assistant Composition Coordinator for the Writing Program, focusing on both lower-division and upper-division levels, and the coordinator for the department’s summer programs, including the Early Start Program for incoming freshman and the Puente Program for incoming transfer students. She has also mentored many colleagues over the years for the Teaching Assistant Program.

Abby specializes in and focuses her teaching on developmental writing, first-year student success, and community building in college. When she isn’t teaching, she is most likely to be found walking her dogs, playing pickleball, or watching her sons play baseball.
